Hello Everyone
I am so happy with the works of CanlLF this is my first time to hear about this great project which is really transforming the lives of women. In Uganda gender inequality is at rampant and gender equality should be advocated because also women play a vital role in the economic development of the country. This is what has forced me even to take up a course in Gender in Agricultural Development and given chance i am willing to work with you and see women also prospering economicall, socially and politically in terms of ownership of resources, equall treatment as men in all aspects of life.
Thank you so much Canada, thank you CanlLF.

Hello all,

This is a poem written by a KAASO primary school pupil. It was in the May 2009 newsletter so I thought that I would share it with you!

AIDS, AIDS, Who are you?

Who created you? You are killing the young and the old; you are finishing our generation. What is your mission? AIDS, you are a threat to the population. You are like a thug who comes in the night and robs whatever one has. You have decided to kill our dear parents, our brothers and sisters and our relatives.

If I knew where you slept, you would not survive. The youngest and oldest have died; the poor, and the rich have all vanished. The handsome, the killer. I conclude by calling everybody to avoid all actions that can lead to acquiring this virus.

Great Work CanILF! I recently became a member of the CanILF and I am so excited to see the great work being done regarding education and support in Uganda. I am also excited to be able to help support the Afghan School Project which is making a difference in the lives of so many people in Afghanistan. Great job! I look forward to seeing many more wonderful stories from ULEP.

Sincerely,
Laurie Smith

What a fantastic project!

I was in Uganda a couple of years ago...and women are very subordinate to men in the Rakai district. They even had to kneel when a man entered the room.

I am glad to see that ULEP is taking the initiative to allow these women an opportunity for an education. Education is a right! These women are just as worthy as we are to have a chance to study.

I wish all the students at KAASO strength and patience. Happy studying!
